Read about my plan to invest $50 million in the Shore Parkway Promenade.

Dear Friend,

If you walk, bike, run, or even drive along the Shore Parkway Promenade, you know that it’s nothing really to write home about.

The promenade is full of sinkholes, there are no public facilities or amenities, and large swaths of the pathway get flooded with tidal surges (a phenomenon that will only continue to accelerate as the climate changes). There is so much potential for this 4-mile coastline to become a beautiful waterfront park that actually improves our coastal resiliency and protects our low-lying neighborhoods -- if we don’t let it go to waste.

That’s why I’m leading an effort to secure $50 million to repair and rebuild the Shore Parkway Promenade in the federal infrastructure bill that Congress is negotiating right now.  Our proposal to fix and upgrade this coastline will make a huge impact on our whole community -- but the work cannot get done without this federal investment.

Repairing the promenade and improving its storm resiliency against future storm surges is the absolute bare minimum, but a greater vision for the waterfront would add so much value for our community. In 2018, I released a proposal to revitalize this entire waterfront, and just this year, the Parks Department began holding community input sessions to solicit ideas for how to improve the promenade.

What would YOU like to see along our beautiful waterfront? Click the form below to tell me what you think would make the promenade a crown jewel for southern Brooklyn.

I will continue to work and fight to make this vision a reality.

Sincerely,

Andrew
