As you know, Team Scanlon doesn't just fight to help me gain votes every two years -- we fight to drive turnout for all races, up and down the ballot, across our region. In fact, our district was instrumental in driving voters to the polls to elect President Joe Biden and flip Pennsylvania blue in 2020.
That's why I'm concerned about the upcoming Senate race in our state in 2022. There's a crowded GOP field, and, according to a longtime PA consultant, the GOP candidates span a spectrum of “super-MAGA Trump, Trump-adjacent and not-so-much Trump.”
Jeff Bartos, who's already declared his candidacy, has been pandering to Trump's base, calling for a “full forensic audit” of Pennsylvania's election -- even after courts found zero evidence of fraud. Sean Parnell, who has also tossed his hat in the ring, sued to throw out all 2.6 million of Pennsylvania's mail-in votes when it looked like Biden won the state. And even Donald Trump Jr. considered running to represent the people of Pennsylvania.
No matter who ends up being the Republican nominee, we know they'll be aiming to carry on Trump's legacy -- and we can't let that happen. My team is hard at work laying the groundwork for blue victories in 2022 -- both for PA-05 and for the open Senate seat that could determine whether Democrats retain our Congressional majority.
But when it comes to the fundraising that powers these efforts, we're falling short -- $586 short of our weekly goal, to be exact.
