** EMILY's List just endorsed Mayor Cantrell.
------------------------------------------------------------

As the first woman elected to serve as mayor of New Orleans, Mayor Cantrell has always unapologetically fought for women throughout the city. EMILY's List has been relentless in ensuring that our government reflects the people it serves by supporting pro-choice, Democratic women as they run for office since 1985. Now, they're joining us for an online event ([link removed]) on August 24 that you're invited to!

From the beginning, Mayor Cantrell has tirelessly worked to make sure that the women of New Orleans have a strong advocate on their side. She established the Office of Youth and Families, tripled the city's investment in early childhood education, and enrolled over 1,000 families in Healthy Start so they can have access to the healthcare they deserve.

With the help of her nonprofit, Forward Together New Orleans, she worked to donate ([link removed]) over 200,000 diapers, 40,000 feminine hygiene products, and 15,000 baby food products to families in need. She also advocated on behalf of Planned Parenthood ([link removed]) as a City Council Member and spoke out against laws restricting abortion rights ([link removed]) .

Sarah Curmi, vice president of state and local campaigns at EMILY's List, said this:
"As the first woman and first Black woman to be elected mayor of New Orleans, LaToya is a trailblazer. LaToya has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic while also remaining focused on improving health care, tackling the affordable housing crisis, and securing significant funding to address New Orleans’ infrastructure needs. EMILY’s List is proud to endorse LaToya Cantrell for reelection as New Orleans mayor and to see the progress she continues to make for families.”
EMILY's List Executive Director Emily Cain will be joining us for a Women for LaToya virtual event on Tuesday, August 24, and you're invited!
