I’ve gotta tell ya, team, fundraising is my least favorite part of the job.
But I just got word that Mitch McConnell’s super PAC and dark money network are amassing a $190 million war chest to attack Democrats in vulnerable districts next year.
Look, it’s clear McConnell and Republicans are scared of losing Senate control — that’s why they’re relying on wealthy special interests to buy all of their elections.
I’ve been there before. Let me tell you, it’s tough to fight back against Republican mega-donors. I’ve spent my entire career trying to get dark money out of our politics because I believe the grassroots should fuel our work.
That’s how we won re-election last year in the face of McConnell’s super PAC network, and it’s why I have to ask:
Can you donate $5 or more to help me elect other Democrats in competitive districts? Every dollar you give helps us respond to McConnell’s attacks and get us one step closer to taking back control of the Senate.
The House has already passed more than 100 bills aimed at raising the minimum wage, strengthening voting rights, ending the student debt crisis, and more that McConnell refuses to bring to a vote.
I’ve sat there on the Senate floor wondering when we’re going to get to vote on legislation that will make a difference in our communities. But every time McConnell blocks it in his legislative graveyard.
Instead of working to help the American people -- which we were elected to do -- McConnell and the Senate GOP would rather side with their special interest backers. That’s why I’m turning to you:
If you can swing it, please consider donating $5 or more to help me elect Democrats across the country, take back the Senate, and get the government working for everyday people again.
It’s time to take away dark money’s free rein in McConnell’s Washington. And that starts with taking back the Senate.
