We have our work cut out for us, and we still need your help. Every Democratic senator voted Wednesday for a resolution with instructions to the Judiciary Committee to include a massive amnesty in next month's budget reconciliation bill -- and tens of billions of dollars to pay for the amnesty.

With every Democrat having voted yesterday to allow the pro-amnesty instructions, we need to be ready for when the Senate returns to vote on the reconciliation bill itself in September.

Senate Republicans will have an opportunity then to offer amendments to remove the amnesty from the final bill. We also have a chance to keep the amnesty out of the reconciliation bill before it is written if as few as four Democrats in the the House of Representatives vote the right way when the House returns in two weeks.

Our urging to our supporters and allies is that we must assume the worst and hope for the best.

We need your activism.

By now you should have received Action Alert emails, with links to your NumbersUSA Action Board to help you send messages to Congress in opposition to this amnesty. If you haven't, please make sure you are subscribed to receive Action Alerts.

Thanks to all of you who have been making tens of thousands of phone calls and sending hundreds of thousands of emails and faxes to Congress. We need to keep up the pressure. We cannot allow Congress to think the public has moved on or accepted defeat. Quite the opposite: as the issue gets more media attention as a vote on the bill itself draws near, we need to expand our pressure in turn.

We also need your financial help. This will be a much more dragged-out battle than we had hoped. Mobilizing all those calls to Congress will cost a pretty penny.

We can still defeat the amnesty... but not without support from members like you. We have important allies, but they can't win without NumbersUSA Action doing all it can. We can't receive grants from the government or tax-free foundations. We rely on donations from our activist members.
