It's just as important to remember to take care of yourself too! Make sure to receive any vaccines you need to stay healthy before school starts. You can use the CDC’s adult vaccine assessment tool to see which vaccines might be right for you. This is just one way school nurses can practice good self care. Paid advertisement COVID-19 Updates Updated CDC Guidance on Masking Due to the circulating and highly contagious Delta variant, CDC recommends universal indoor masking by all students (age 2 and older), staff, teachers, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status. Learn more Back to School “Week of Action” “Week of Action” runs from August 7-15 to mobilize school districts, colleges and universities, students, teachers, national organizations, local government leaders, businesses, and others to encourage young people to get vaccinated and offer accessible ways to do it in their community. Today, August 12 is a digital day of action to encourage young people to get vaccinated and post your resources so others can see and cross-post your great content! Anyone looking to get a vaccine can use the resources below to get additional information: Text to find a vaccine. Find locations, sort by specific vaccines, and get more information on how to make an appointment. Call the hotline. The National COVID-19 Vaccination Assistance Hotline can be reached at 1-800-232-0233 to get help in English, Spanish, and more than 150 other languages. It also has a TTY line to support access by hearing. NEW COVID-19 Resources The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) published a resource for school nurse advocacy titled “Promoting School Nurses as Leaders in Reopening Schools”. As the next school year begins, there needs to be a continued focus on keeping students safe and in school. New CDC Guidance for K-12 Schools: Strategies to reduce the spread on COVID-19 in schools and maintain safe operations includes an updated science brief for the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in schools. CDC COVID-19 Viral Testing Tool is an interactive web tool designed to help both healthcare providers and individuals understand COVID-19 testing options. NASN's COVID-19 Interactive Tools Can I Send My Student to School: Designed for school nurses to share with families, this interactive tool is based on CDC COVID-19 guidance and designed to guide families through assessing when their child should stay home from school.
