John,

After eight educational (and even fun) weeks, our 2021 Youth Peacebuilding and Violence Prevention Summer Internship has concluded.

This year we were able to serve nearly triple the number of interns that we had in our program last summer. Our interns learned from us, expert guest speakers, and, perhaps most importantly, each other throughout the summer. They developed friendships, despite it being a virtual experience.

This internship--and all of our youth programming--is only possible due to the generous donations from supporters like you.

The internship culminated in a two-day public virtual event, which the interns hosted. You can find a replay of each part of that event on our YouTube channel.

As the internship leaders, it was a pleasure to observe the interns developing their confidence, advocacy skills, communication abilities, knowledge of peace-building and gun violence prevention, and more.

The interns also had a great time and valued their experience. Here is what some of our interns had to say about their experience:

Thank you so much for an amazing eight weeks! I feel like I have learned so much during this internship and am more confident now to take my next steps in GVP…Thank you for helping me feel like I've done something meaningful this summer and for leading a great internship!”

“Thank you so much for this opportunity. I learned so much and really enjoyed being an intern. You…did an amazing job making this internship feel like it was in person. It was nice connecting with so many different people.”

“Thank you again for this amazing opportunity; I really learned a lot and will be taking these skills I now know on with me to…the future.”

"I have learned so much just from my fellow interns and from all of our wonderful presenters."

“I have enjoyed being a part of a big group of people [who] all feel passionately about GVP and

learning in numerous ways.”

“I really enjoy it when we get guest speakers to come in and talk. I also enjoyed hearing everyone’s perspective because everyone is so different, and it can be very enlightening.”

Your support will make sure that we can continue to empower the next generation of gun violence prevention activists!

Sincerely,
