Team --
Today is the anniversary of the second day of the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. We can't talk about this rally without mentioning Heather Heyer.
Heather Heyer was a community activist who fought for justice and equality. She was murdered when a white supremacist drove through a crowd of counter-protestors that took Heather's life and injured countless others.
In a just world, Heather should still be alive. Today, we are honoring Heather's memory by continuing the fight for a nation that lives up to its original ideals of justice, equality, and opportunity.
White supremacy isn't some unseen evil we have no control over: it's the foundation American democracy was built on. But we the people can make this government work for us if our voices are heard. It's why having Black voices heard at the polls is so crucial.
We are building power to address inequality and racism at every single level of government. Our work at The Collective is never finished because there's no one answer to righting the historic wrong of racism. But we are thankful to have you with us in this fight for justice and equality for all.
Onward,
The Collective Team
