Joe Biden for years has told Americans, "don't tell me what you value, show me your budget, and I'll tell you what you value."
Well, we now know exactly what House Democrats don't value based on their partisan funding packages: our national defense or our border security.
Despite forcing through trillions in new spending and double-digit increases for most federal departments, House Democrats have no intention of bringing either a Department of Defense or Department of Homeland Security funding bill to the floor.
Leaving our troops and border agents unfunded...
To make matters worse, Speaker Pelosi sent Congress home for over a months-long taxpayer-funded August recess without allowing us to complete our legislative responsibilities.
- This comes despite a 21-year high in border crossings and when our Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are overwhelmed.
- This comes as our adversaries – like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea – are focused on growing their own investments, modernizing their militaries, and expanding their malign operations against America and our allies.
As Members return home, we leave behind a nation in crisis.
