These Republican Governors are following the trends of the Republican Party in response to the Covid-19 pandemic:

• Republican state legislatures in Democratically governed states like Michigan are trying to introduce similar anti-mask legislation in public schools.
• Republicans in Congress are defying mask mandates in the Capitol.
• Many members of the GOP are spreading misinformation about Covid-19, vaccines, and masking.

Elementary school-aged children are not yet eligible for the vaccine. Barring public schools from requiring children and teachers to mask puts everyone at risk -- it’s clear that Republicans care more about political optics than the health and safety of their constituents.
