Hi —

Did you see the news this week? Just days after the Senate passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill, they approved a budget resolution early yesterday morning that will set the stage for the biggest, boldest climate package in American history.

We’re talking about a plan to clean up toxic airborne particles in our cities. To deliver lead-free, affordable water to everyone regardless of their income, race, or zipcode. To electrify our cars and grid. And to substantially fund neighborhoods historically on the receiving end of environmental injustices: low income and minority communities.

This is a make-or-break moment. Whether Congress immediately moves a budget reconciliation package that matches the scale of the climate and environmental justice crises we face depends on the actions we take right now.

ACT NOW: Urge your members of Congress to pass a reconciliation package centering climate, justice, and jobs. [[link removed]]

Just over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the disastrous consequences of ignoring the climate emergency. Wildfires have raged across the west coast, casting haze-filled skies and dangerous air quality as far away as right here in Pennsylvania. Floods swept through New York’s subway system, showing just how vulnerable our infrastructure is to climate change. In Detroit, record-breaking floods have led to unprecedented devastation.

An IPCC report out this week also made it very clear: Governments around the world have not done enough to mitigate their carbon emissions and meet the urgency of climate change.

The report may seem dire, but there’s also hope — if we act right now . We can prevent the most devastating climate impacts by insisting on action at the scale that this crisis demands — and Congress finally has the chance to do just that by passing a reconciliation package that will revitalize America's infrastructure and economy with green technology.

We need the entire grassroots movement to show up, and to show up big, because we know the oil and gas industry is going to pour everything they have into misinformation campaigns to completely derail any progress in clean, sustainable, renewable energy. That’s why we need 1,000 pro-environment advocates like you to speak up — because your silence will mean victory for Big Oil.

Tell Congress that this week’s international climate report shows that we cannot afford to miss this moment — we need to pass a budget reconciliation that centers jobs and justice NOW. [[link removed]]

Thanks for being a part of this movement.
