A worker dies every 30 seconds from exposure to toxic industrial chemicals, pesticides, dust, and radiation. What is Carter's doing to end toxic textiles?

Dear Friend,

Carter's, the largest US children's clothing retailer, released its first sustainability report - this is a positive step forward, but it is not enough!

In order to end toxic textiles, Carter's needs to take bolder action on chemical management. The company still has not disclosed a manufacturing restricted substances list, which would help to protect garment workers and their communities from hazardous chemicals.

What is and isn't Carter's doing? We broke down what the commitments in its new report really mean.

Urgent action is needed from industry. And, together we are holding it accountable and making progress

When we launched the Toxic Textiles campaign, Carter’s shared very little information about its sustainability efforts. Since then, Carter’s has: launched a website on environmental, social, and governance impacts, disclosed a restricted substances list (RSL), and now issued a sustainability report.

This progress is thanks to the nearly 30,000 individuals who have called on Carter’s to step it up, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Join us in calling on Carter’s to protect workers and our environment!

Thank you for all that you do,

Charlotte Tate
