John
I’m not your typical candidate for Congress.
I’m a young, first-generation immigrant from a working-class background.
I was born in the border town of Laredo, Texas. My parents immigrated from Mexico when my older sister needed serious medical care that we could only get in the U.S.
In those first years in Texas, my dad picked fruit to provide for our family. Nothing came easy for us, and my parents worked tirelessly just to get by.
That experience is exactly why I’m running.
Politicians always claim to fight for families like mine. But, it’s different when you’ve felt that struggle; it’s different when you come from that experience.
I’m running because there are millions of families like mine — working class and immigrant families — but so few people who look like us in the halls of power.
It won’t be easy to win this race. In fact, it may be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But with your help, and with enough resources, I know we can. We came within an inch last year, and this time we’re even better prepared. So I’m asking you now…
Will you contribute to become one of our first donors? Early contributions are SO important for candidates like me who don’t come from wealth and power.

Imagine what we can get done in Congress with more representatives who share our story and understand the stakes of D.C. policymaking.
We can build an economy that works for all of us, rebuild our broken immigration system from the ground up, and tackle the big issues like climate change.
We can root out the corrupting influence of money in politics and secure health care for everyone.
We can do it all if we get the right representation in D.C. So, if you can contribute today, that would be a big help as we kick off our campaign.

Every donation to this campaign gives me hope. I’m so grateful to each and every one of you for being part of this.
