Aisata Dicko has experienced a horror that few of us can imagine – she witnessed her 13- year-old son killed by insurgents in her home village. She and her surviving children barely made it out alive. They now live in Senou Camp, on the outskirts of Bamako, the capital of Mali. Since then, every day is a struggle.
August is National Make a Will Month, and as I think about Aisata and her family, I am filled with gratitude for the caring souls who have left gifts in their wills to keep our work going. Those gifts have kept us firmly planted in Mali, and so many other communities that have been all but forsaken. They have provided food, clean water, shelter, medicine and so much more. Those gifts have saved and changed lives.
A will is arguably the most consequential document you’ll ever compose in your life. It doesn’t just outline how to distribute your assets – it ensures the people and causes you love are cared for now and long into the future.
In honor of National Make a Will Month, I have a challenge for you – take the next step toward having a will that truly reflects your wishes and your Christian values. Request a copy of our Guide to Leaving a Gift in Your Will to help you begin to discern how your will can reach neighbors in crisis around the world.
If you still have questions after receiving your guide in the mail, please reach out to me at [email protected].
I pray that you use the opportunity of National Make a Will Month to consider how you can use the precious resources, entrusted to you by God, to continue to do His work long into the future. God bless you, so that you may continue to be a blessing to others.
In Christ’s Service,
