Good afternoon friend,
Our opponents are on the move. Ardent campaigner against choice at the end of
life, Baroness Illora Finlay, has been working behind the scenes to collect a
thousand signatures from doctors who oppose assisted dying for a letter by
opposition group “Care Not Killing” campaigning under “Our Duty of Care”.
We’re launching a crowdfunder to put ads in the British Medical Journal
amplifying the voices of supportive doctors. Please, chip in what you can today
[[link removed]] and remind opponents of the facts.
Baroness Finlay may have signatures but what she doesn’t have is evidence. The
largest ever survey of doctors carried out by the British Medical Association
(BMA) in 2020 showed that most doctors disagree with their professional body
opposing law change . Please, don’t let opponents warp the evidence.

We need to raise £15,000
[[link removed]] to get these ads in the most read medical journal in the country.
Even though it might sound impressive, “one thousand opposed doctors” is a very
small number compared to the 50% of BMA members who told the BMA they personally support law change on
assisted dying.
Doctors are on our side - but more people need to know that.

With the BMA’s annual meeting coming up in September, supportive doctors need to
know that they are in the majority, that some of the most well respected doctors
in the country are behind them, and that a change in the law is possible for
dying people who need this choice.
By donating today you can make sure our message reaches 85,000 doctors before
they meet in September. Please, chip in a few pounds today.

Crowdfunders mean that we can respond almost instantly to opponent actions when
we need to to make the biggest impact we can. Thank you for helping us do that.
I’ll keep you updated on our progress
All the best,
Sadie Kempner
