After the outcome of the primary election on August 6th, I believed my campaign had come to an end. My wife Marty and I went back to our normal life and were so thankful for the support we had seen over the summer months. Many people asked me to consider a write-in campaign because the outcome was so close, less than 300 votes apart, but I declined.
However, over the past couple of months, like you, I have seen and heard the same stories of corruption and unethical behavior swirling around the two current candidates for mayor. I became increasingly disappointed with the idea of voting for either candidate. This is Wichita, a city I love, and we need trusted leadership now more than ever.
I have spent the past week listening to supporters and talking with my family. It is not an easy decision. But after many hours in thought and prayer, I feel compelled to run as a write-in candidate to give Wichitans a choice for mayor they know they can trust. I am running because we need to restore public trust to the mayor’s office before we can tackle the other challenging issues facing our city.
I humbly ask for your support today. We must come together for the November 5th election to put Wichita on the right path forward. Please tell your friends and family how critical this election is for Wichita and how simple it is to write in my name on a ballot. I am grateful for your support and hope that together, we can restore public trust to our mayor’s office.
