John,
Have you heard? The Partnership for Working Families has a new name! We’re now PowerSwitch Action. We made it official on July 21 at a virtual celebration with over 200 friends, staff, allies and partners. Check out our highlights reel!
We celebrated our history and the leaders whose work built this organization. And we painted a picture of the future that PowerSwitch Action is fighting for, which is laid out in our long term agenda for collective liberation.
We asked you to imagine cities and towns where housing, food, and health are no longer commodities denied to the many, for the benefit of the wealthy few, and where we care for children, the elderly and disabled, where land and natural resources are commonly stewarded, and public spaces, squares, and libraries are protected because we know they're critical to the infrastructure of democracy. Where work is meaningful and safe, and workers have a share in the wealth that they actually generate. And where democracy is expansive and inclusive.
If you missed the live event, don’t worry! You can still catch the conversation between Lauren Jacobs and Dorian Warren, along with reflections from our amazing staff and affiliate leaders in the recording here.
Why are we rebranding? Because we want to build on the strong foundation that the Partnership built over the last 19 years and align our brand with who we are today. Our theory of change, our leadership and staff, and our model of campaigning have evolved to meet this moment. We know that when people step into their collective power, nothing can stop us. And the future is still ours to define. Our new name says what we believe: it’s time for a power switch.
I hope you are as excited as we are about stepping into this new chapter with a bold, transformational vision and a new name that reflects who we are. Stay tuned for updates about a new website and other resources in the next couple months.
In gratitude, ![]() Lauren Jacobs Executive Director |
