Every day, gun violence strikes at the core of who we are as a nation — leaving countless lives lost and communities never the same.
We’ve seen a surge of gun-related deaths during this pandemic and gun violence continues to threaten Americans in schools, places of worship, and places where we should all feel safe. It’s clear that we must continue to fight for bold action to end gun violence in this nation.
Washington Senate Dems have led the nation in gun violence prevention, but we know there’s still more work to do.
We need to know if you’re standing with us as we continue to fight for meaningful gun safety reforms. We need 2,500 grassroots supporters to sign on to show their support for the work we’ve done — and to demand action on gun violence in the years to come.
Time and time again, our Senators have stood up and demanded action. In 2020, we passed a groundbreaking gun violence prevention bill to establish a statewide office to collect and centralize data on firearm violence, including suicide, making it public for research. It also funded initiatives that seek to end the epidemic of gun violence.
We’ve passed de-escalation bills to hold police accountable and passed a bill to ban open carry weapons at permitted demonstrations on the Capitol campus.
And Washingtonians like you made their voices heard at the ballot box by passing Initiatives 1491 and 1693 — which established “red flag” laws, expanded background checks, and extended waiting periods for gun purchases.
I’m proud of the work we’ve done to end gun violence right here in Washington state. From our state legislature to the ballot box — we’ve made real progress that will save countless lives.
Thanks for joining the fight today.
