As I write this email, Senator Carol Alvarado is on the Senate floor filibustering to protect voting rights in Texas. Republicans are trying to push through another bill targeting Black and Brown voters in Texas. But Texas Democrats are holding the line to stop this anti-democratic legislation and ensure that every eligible Texan can make their voice heard at the ballot box.

Right now, the latest Texas Republican anti-voter bill -- SB 1 -- is being debated on the Senate floor, and they are only one step away from passing it. After calling not one, but two special sessions, and changing the Senate rules to allow other unpopular legislation to pass through committees without input from the public, it is clear that Texas Republicans will stop at nothing to get their way.

But, Texas Democrats are going to do whatever it takes to stop this power grab. Just moments ago, Sen. Carol Alvarado filed to filibuster the bill -- stopping it from moving forward as long as she can keep up the fight.
