The good news is that we can fix this problem. Here are a few steps The Hill recommends to protect our hard-working election officials:
First , encourage local governments to defend their officials by funding election security, protecting personal information, and providing legal representation against partisan lawsuits.
Then , call on congress to finally pass federal legislation protecting voting rights. What we need are common-sense reforms to protect the backbone of our democracy – but Republicans won’t budge an inch on S. 1 or the John Lewis Voting Rights Act!
Most important of all , we need to elect Democratic, pro-voter Secretaries of State to stand up for local officials and fight extremist lies. That’s where you come in.
