The Actors Fund

Dear Actors Fund Friends,
August marches on as the mercury keeps rising and uncertainty lingers
around us. We hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy.
While we slowly and carefully welcome back in-person events and
performances, we know the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be of great
concern for many. With everyone's safety as our top priority,
we're excited to invite you to celebrate The Tony Awards with fellow
Actors Fund supporters in Los Angeles in September! We also look
forward to new virtual productions from award-winning playwrights, and
a chance to visit Brooklyn for numerous play offerings.
Thank you for your unwavering support, and we look forward to seeing
you soon.

The Reading Series

The Reading Series, a virtual benefit play series, has announced their
next production will be the premiere of Neil LaBute's If I Needed
Someone starring Lauren Zakrin and Tobias Segal and directed by Alison
Tanney.
The play is the real-time story of two people who meet at a party and
end up going home together. After their initial hook-up, we watch them
spend the next few hours together negotiating the minefield of modern
expectations as they try to see if there is any future in their
present situation. Can you fall in love these days when society puts
up so many romantic roadblocks? Does affection stand a chance in these
times of suspicion and contempt? Of course it does. This is a romance.
This is a love story. This is how it goes.

On August 17, attend A Golden City: a new play/staged reading from
celebrated playwright Lyle Kessler (Orphans). Hell and damnation,
angels and devils mix in this black comedy about the Great American
Pastime. Play ball! The production features Marcus Naylor, Max
Samuels, Victor Slezak, Dana Mazzenga, Margaret Ladd and Bridge
Resident Artist Christina Toth, with a portion of all ticket proceeds
donated to The Actors Fund.
On August 18 and 22, see I Am Your Masseuse (six short digressions)
from Pulitzer and Academy-Award winner John Patrick Shanley (Doubt,
Moonstruck). These six short plays are designed to aid the digestion
and further erode our attention span, performed during The Bridge
Residency at the Brooklyn Navy Yards. The production stars Marcus
Naylor, Crawford M. Collins, Carlo Alban and Bridge Resident Artist
Christina Toth, with a portion of all ticket proceeds donated to The
Actors Fund.
