Hi John,

When you run a sanctuary with hundreds of animals like I do, you see many friends die over the years. But yesterday was the hardest yet because I lost my best friend, Rose. Rose was a little chicken with a big story. Her rescue from a factory farm inspired people around the world to take daring action for animals. From Mexico City to Seoul, Korea, people locked down at slaughterhouses and government buildings, demanding legislation protecting animals in a bill called Rose's Law. Now, Rose is gone, but we can make sure her legacy lives on.

Rose was collapsed inside a massive Amazon factory farm when DxE investigators found her and carried her out. The police arrested over 50 activists and seized 9 birds out of their arms, but Rose made it out alive because one officer saw her suffering and broke rank to let her be rescued. That small act of compassion changed Rose's fate forever, and it showed the world that even law enforcement understands animal rescue isn't a crime. Through Open Rescue, we can start a conversation about what animals truly deserve and someday soon, we will enshrine Rose's Law. I promised Rose we would.
