The U.S. Senate passed an incredibly disappointing $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. The bill falls far short of addressing crucial priorities for racial, economic, and climate justice.

The bill is now on its way to the House of Representatives and we need to make sure they include bold climate action that protects frontline communities and provides the investment we need to tackle the climate crisis.

Send a letter to your members of Congress. demanding they push for climate justice in the House’s version of the infrastructure bill.

Here are some parts of the bill that will actively harm the health and safety of our communities:

- Billions for a massive liquified natural gas (LNG) project in Alaska;
- Billions for the fossil fuel industry for carbon capture and storage, which is simply an excuse to keep the fossil fuel industry in business;
- Billions in subsidies for dangerous nuclear energy;
- Millions to produce hydrogen from gas, carbon capture, biomass and nuclear;

While the deal does include funding for some important programs, we need to push Congress to include bold climate policies that provide recovery to communities hardest hit by the climate crisis. We urgently need investments as big as the crises we face. We should be spending billions on transitioning immediately off of fossil fuels instead of doubling down on investments in dirty energy.

We cannot build back better if Congress continues supporting and expanding fossil fuel infrastructure that perpetuates environmental racism and injustice and worsens the climate emergency.
