In just a minute, I will ask you to add a contribution to my reelection campaign before our critical rapid-response deadline expires at midnight. But first, I’d like to explain why your support is so important — especially now.

You might be surprised to hear this, but a large portion of our budget comes from grassroots contributions to emails just like this one.

From day one, I wanted this team to be fueled by hardworking folks chipping in what they could for a movement we all believe in. I never want there to be a question of who I work for — that answer will always be you.

Look, this isn’t the easy path. And it makes us especially vulnerable to outside attacks now that Washington Republicans and their megadonors are gearing up to retake the Senate.

But I’ve seen the power of this grassroots team. I know if we dig deep and work together, we can overcome anything thrown our way. But I have to admit, I’m a little worried we’ll miss our rapid-response fundraising goal tonight.

That’s why I’m personally asking you to add a contribution of any amount that’s meaningful to you to help us reach our goal, protect this seat and defend the Democratic Senate majority. I appreciate you.

Honestly, the amount you give is far less important than the act of you donating. Because everytime you chip in to this campaign, you’re making a declaration of support for the type of movement we’re building.
