The #1 issue I hear about that folks want fixed is the traffic gridlock. Since taking office, I've been a leader in the House securing funding for new interchanges and improvements along I-75, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and intermodal improvements like bike lanes and sidewalks.

I just got off a Zoom call with President Biden to talk about the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. It's the largest investment in our roads, highways, and bridges since the creation of the Interstate Highway System. Florida is expected to receive tens of billions of dollars in new investment; here's the highlights:

  • 13.1 billion for federal-aid highway programs
  • 245 million for bridge replacement and repairs
  • 2.6 billion for public transit options
  • 198 million for electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • >100 million for high-speed rural broadband
  • 6.4 million low-income Floridians would be eligible for assistance with internet bills to close the digital divide.
  • Tens of billions of dollars additionally would be available via grants should Florida choose to persue them.

Together with President Biden and our friends in Washington, we really are Building Back Better by fixing the damn roads!
