PIF is Hiring!

Dear Allies,

Today, we are sharing a special message from Eddie, announcing a new and exciting opportunity to join the PIF coalition team! We encourage organizations to share this job announcement with your networks and interested individuals to apply. We would love to be able to fill this role with people who are already engaged in the PIF coalition.

A Note From Eddie:

When I joined PIF in the summer of 2020 as the interim director, I set out to listen to coalition partners about what you value in PIF and hope for PIF’s future. I learned that partners deeply value PIF’s multi-sector network and PIF’s policy analysis and materials that support our collective education, outreach, and advocacy priorities. I also heard a call from partners for the PIF coalition to continue so that we can work together to advance a proactive agenda.

Since these conversations, I’ve worked with PIF’s Executive Committee to help evolve PIF into a more independent entity with its own staff, rather than depending on staff loaned by the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) and Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP).

The Director is the first position that PIF is hiring! Down the line, we also intend to announce more positions within the campaign, including an operations position and a deputy director. These positions would be 100% dedicated to carrying out PIF’s vision and serving the network and will be accountable to the Executive Committee.

About the Director Position: The Director will do what I now do — lead PIF’s overall work, including community outreach and education, communications and narrative, policy advocacy, and partner engagement. The Director will oversee the work of PIF’s talented team of staff and consultants, while leveraging the contributions of PIF’s member organizations through working groups. The Director will also manage PIF’s budget and fundraising strategy.

While you’ll soon have a new team member joining the PIF coalition, many of the faces and voices you are used to will remain the same. Renato Rocha, who is on loan from CLASP and is serving as PIF’s deputy director, will support the staffing transition. Isobel Mohyeddin and I, who are on loan from NILC, will onboard the new staff member responsibilities before transitioning back to NILC. PIF’s team of consultants, including Alicia Wilson, Ed Walz, Lena O’Rourke, and Sonya Schwartz, will continue in their roles. PIF’s working group meetings, policy analysis materials, and our work to develop and share outreach and education resources and communication tools will also continue.

I’m excited for this new chapter for PIF and look forward to what the coalition can accomplish with staff who are exclusively focused on PIF’s efforts to protect and advance immigrant families’ access to health, nutrition, housing, and economic supports.

In Solidarity,

Eddie Carmona & Renato Rocha, on behalf of the PIF Team
