John,

The richest man in West Virginia is "Big Jim" Justice. He's also the state's governor.

Elected as a Democrat but almost immediately switching to the Republican Party, Forbes magazine called Jim "the deadbeat billionaire" because of his habit of not paying his taxes, his workers, or the fines he owes for mine safety violations. In fact, Big Jim has stiffed his workers for more than $10 million and his company owes more than $200 million in liabilities.1

But this turncoat deadbeat may have finally met his match. Challenging Big Jim is a people-powered, pro-labor candidate named Stephen Smith — one of the co-founders of the WV Working Families Party. And with your help we can kick Big Jim to the curb and elect Stephen Smith as governor.

When it comes to West Virginia, Stephen is a proud pro-labor Democrat — honoring the history of marching miners and striking teachers and bus drivers. And his team is building a campaign that matches that movement spirit.

They've held 127 town halls, organized 39 constituency teams (Veterans, Students, People in Recovery, and so on) and even recruited 58 pro-labor candidates to run down-ballot races. It's a people-powered campaign that's challenging the conventional wisdom in politics by choosing citizen leadership over corporate cash.

Best of all, the strategy is working.

Despite going up against the richest man in West Virginia, according to the most recent campaign finance reports, Stephen's grassroots campaign has outraised every other gubernatorial candidate in the state COMBINED — without a penny of corporate PAC or lobbyist money.

We need your help if we are going to keep up the momentum and demonstrate that Stephen Smith has the broad grassroots support he needs to win and become West Virginia's next governor.

Can you chip in $3 to WV WFP co-founder Stephen Smith's campaign for governor? Every dollar you give can make a huge difference and 100% of your contribution will go towards his people-powered campaign to take back West Virginia.

Thanks for your support,
