John,

Today I want to talk about infrastructure. Right now, there are a lot of conversations swirling at the local, state, and national levels about infrastructure, but what do those conversations really mean for Kansans?

Investments in our infrastructure make our roads and bridges safer, create good-paying jobs, and deliver more economic opportunities for Kansas -- now and in the future. After the previous administration stole nearly $1.5 billion from our highways to pay for their destructive tax experiments, I've made it a priority to get back to making our communities safer with a plan to invest in our infrastructure.

But investing in our infrastructure is about more than our roads and bridges. It's also about expanding broadband access to the most rural parts of our state. If we learned anything from the pandemic, broadband access is a necessity now, not a luxury.

Since taking office, my administration has gotten to work. We've passed and implemented a historic, bipartisan plan with more than 130 infrastructure projects in the works. But we can't stop there.

We owe it to our kids and Kansas families who rely on working internet and safe roads and bridges for school and work. Each generation has new infrastructure needs -- and we must be prepared to meet those new demands.

I'm committed to remaining focused on fixing our crumbling infrastructure to ensure Kansans can have every opportunity to succeed. Add your name to our petition to show that you're committed to improving our infrastructure system.

Thank you,

Laura
