friend,

Our students have been busy this summer! Not only have we been training our fellows to be incredible organizers when they return to campus, but we’ve also shown them how critical investigation and research are in impacting organizing strategies. Through our investigative research, we uncovered the various ways the Koch network has been working to capture and privatize K-12 public education.

Our newly released report: The Koch Network and the Capture of K-12 Education,” highlights the Koch network’s involvement in cutting public school funds, the promotion of voucher programs, the proliferation of anti-critical race theory legislation across the country, and the countless ways disinformation is being disseminated via curriculum and textbooks.

The Kochs’ infiltration of K-12 education harms students, teachers, and public schools, as well as our democracy. Students are losing access to quality public education. Teachers are losing access to resources and the support needed to create a healthy, generative public school ecosystem. Finally, our democracy is harmed as students are taught with Koch-funded curriculum that promotes regressive and ahistorical ideologies that contribute to myths of meritocracy, normalizes extractive economic practices which disregard our climate, and justifies historical structural violence.

This report, which was produced with the help of our amazing fellows and Save Our Schools Arizona, is just one more way we’re able to provide the latest updates on how the Koch network continues to infiltrate and insert their austerity into public institutions. UnKoch My Campus is a project dedicated to disrupting corporate influence on campuses nationwide by equipping campus activists with education, skills, and ecosystems of solidarity. The Koch network is leveraging its donations to colleges and universities to bolster its corporate agenda to halt action on climate change, put hundreds of thousands of people in prison, deny millions of people healthcare, and strip rights and wages from workers globally. We're building a mass movement of young people who are dedicated to disrupting this harm.
