** Abused Women’s Aid In Crisis, Inc. (AWAIC) 2021 Community Stakeholder Survey

"Greetings Community Member!
AWAIC is doing this community survey to gain a better understanding of how AWAIC impacts your life and the community. We value your opinion and feel that gathering this information will help AWAIC to determine areas of success and growth.

Your answers will be confidential and only aggregate data will be used to help AWAIC improve services for the community. This survey should take between 8 and 10 minutes to complete. Please complete by August 26, 2021.

** ACEH Outreach Updates

The next mobile vaccination clinic with Visit Healthcare is this Friday, August 13th at Peratrovich Park from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Outreach staff will be assisting on the ground as vaccines are administered.

** Center for Disease Control (CDC) Updates

** Eviction Moratorium Extended

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended the eviction moratorium until October 3 in communities with high rates of COVID-19 transmission.

** National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) Updates

** Accessing Important Federal Payments
------------------------------------------------------------
Economic Impact Payments and Child Tax Credits may be able to lift families out of homelessness – or prevent it from happening. The Alliance’s latest research brief outlines how to access and use these critical payments.

** Converting Hotels and Motels into Housing with COVID Funds
------------------------------------------------------------
Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous states and localities have successfully expanded their housing capacity by leveraging federal, state, local, and philanthropic funds to rapidly acquire and convert hotel and motel properties into permanent housing. A new series of case studies shows how these projects got off the ground at both the program-level and project-level.

** National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) Updates

** Senate Provides Up to $332 Billion for Housing and Transportation in the Infrastructure Reconciliation Package
------------------------------------------------------------
The Senate released today a budget resolution ([link removed]) , setting the stage for Congress to enact a $3.5 trillion infrastructure package. The budget resolution calls for more than $332 billion combined for housing and transportation investments!
The budget resolution is expected to receive a vote on the Senate floor in the coming days, before heading to the House for approval. Once the budget resolution is approved, the Senate Banking Committee and House Financial Services Committee will draft legislation to determine how to invest their allocations in various housing and transportation programs.

** NLIHC Announces ERASE Grantees
------------------------------------------------------------
NLIHC is pleased to announce the 27 state and local organizations selected for the NLIHC Ending Rental Arrears to Stop Evictions (ERASE) grantee cohort. The cohort will work to influence state and local emergency rental assistance (ERA) programs and ensure that ERA funds quickly reach the lowest-income and most marginalized people. The ERASE program seeks to ensure housing stability for the lowest-income renters in the short-term while building the framework for long-term sustainability.

** Research Examines Measurement of Eviction Rates in the American Housing Survey
------------------------------------------------------------
An article in Cityscape, “Estimating the Prevalence of Eviction in the United States: New Data from the 2017 American Housing Survey ([link removed]) ,” examines key findings from the 2017 American Housing Survey (AHS) regarding forced displacement, how these results differ from other sources, and why the AHS might underestimate formal evictions. While AHS estimates 5.5 informal evictions for every one formal eviction, the authors identify reasons to believe that formal eviction prevalence may be even higher.

** National Council of Nonprofits Updates

Help communities by sharing the pandemic’s impact on your nonprofit

[link removed] nonprofit has felt the pandemic’s effects differently, and each has had a front-row view of how the pandemic has affected local communities. We are partnering with the Federal Reserve on a survey to create a comprehensive picture of the effects on nonprofits ([link removed]) and the communities we serve, both nationwide and in individual states. The results will help nonprofits inform policymakers at every level of government about the challenges we all faced this past year and can help nonprofits advocate for further relief. What is CE? CE is a triage process to connect individuals experiencing homelessness to necessary resources. It is a federally mandated program that recognizes communities rarely have enough resources. There are three main goals of CE: prioritize the most vulnerable, streamline the experience for providers and unsheltered people, and provide data to inform decisions regarding the structure of and need for services.
