John,
On Monday, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a massive report on the history and future of global climate change.
The report confirms what we've always known to be true: Humans are unequivocally warming the planet, and in order to curb the worst effects of climate change, we must decrease fossil fuel emissions.
According to climate scientists, there is likely to be a significant increase in extreme weather events — including floods, heatwaves, droughts, and rapidly rising sea levels — over the next 20 to 30 years. We know firsthand that the climate crisis is already hurting communities like St. Louis the most.
It's more clear than ever that we must halt the rapid rise of global temperatures immediately. That's why Cori is a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal and proudly introduced the Green New Deal for Cities alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez this spring. The Green New Deal for Cities would ensure climate funding goes directly to frontline communities for climate mitigation.
John, Cori won't stop leading for the bold and ambitious legislation we need to address the climate crisis, but she needs your support. Will you chip in $5 or more to help Cori keep legislating and organizing to take our fight against the climate crisis to the next level?
This is a global crisis, but Cori knows we need to bring the push for environmental justice to St. Louis and communities like it.
In St. Louis, there are clear signs of how folks, especially Black and brown people, are hurting because of a lack of local funding and government support for climate action and environmental protection. Our children are making more and more trips to the emergency room for asthma attacks, extreme temperatures are driving up electric bills, and our water system is in dire need of an upgrade.
This is a crisis of great magnitude, and we can't wait any longer for empty legislation. We need bold solutions, and Cori is dedicated to achieving them.
Our whole future is at stake, John. Can you chip in $5 or anything you can to power Cori's work in Congress to fight for the future of our planet?
Together,
Team Cori
