The historic proposed $400 billion for HCBS means that more people can access the care they need, when and where they need it. And now is the most important time to contact our Senators to let them know that caregiving is vital as our economy rebuilds.

Dear John,

Yesterday, the Senate voted 69-30 to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill and send it to the House.

This is a huge step forward in building back our economy, and is even better news for what comes next.

Because the next step — the budget reconciliation bill — is where the investments in human infrastructure will be made. We’re talking paid family leave, support for child care and universal pre-k, and of course, Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS).

Will you add your name to our petition urging Congress to make a full investment in HCBS in the budget bill, and for the House to hold the infrastructure bill until that happens?

As part of the Build Back Better plan, President Biden proposed a $400 billion investment in HCBS. That money would help clear state home care wait lists, improve access to home care, and pay home care workers what they deserve, among other critical things.

Leaders have been clear that the roads and bridges would be voted on first, as part of this bipartisan deal. And that the human infrastructure that makes all other work possible would come next. We need them to make a full investment in HCBS in that second part.

We need Congress to authorize that full amount so that we can truly rebuild our home care system and all have the choice to age the way we want.

Senators spent last night debating and voting on amendments to decide the framework for how the money is going to be allocated. But there are still a lot of negotiations to go before the final bill passes. Your members of Congress need to hear how important a robust investment in HCBS would be for you and your family, and they need to hear it now.

Will you add your name to our petition urging the House to keep their promise to not take action on the infrastructure bill until the Senate passes a budget bill with full funding for HCBS?

Add your name.

With care,
