Hi Supporter,

You may have seen the recent headlines this week about the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Climate Report.

The bad news: climate change is widespread, rapid, and intensifying -- affecting every corner of our planet.

The good news: we can still limit temperature rise to the 1.5C threshold -- we have the tools and information in hand -- but we must take immediate large-scale action before it’s too late.
From September 19 to October 9, hundreds of people across the country will hike for our planet as a part of Team Sierra’s City Hike.

The climate crisis is accelerating, and it will continue to worsen unless the world cuts all carbon pollution in half by 2031 and invests in clean energy solutions that completely end all carbon pollution by 2050. We know that grassroots fundraising works, which is why our team has been tirelessly working on reimagining a Hike-A-Thon to fit with the times.

We all have corners of the planet we call home, and we’re seeing the devastating impacts of climate change in different forms -- heatwaves, historic droughts and floods, superstorms, record-breaking wildfires, and unprecedented coastal flooding. The work starts where we live, and it must start now.

Sierra Club has a proven track record, and we’re the most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. The funds you raise will advocate for big, bold climate solutions -- we must ensure a just transition to 100% clean energy.

We have a responsibility to our community, our next generation, and ourselves to protect our future. Our planet is relying on us to make urgent change now, for a healthier tomorrow. There is no time to waste!
