We’ve long been anticipating redistricting data to decide the fate of the 2022 midterms. We already know that California will be losing a congressional seat, and with National Republicans already targeting me, this is going to be one of our toughest elections yet.

California has a nonpartisan redistricting commission, but no matter what I will have to introduce myself to new voters in a tougher district.

As Chair of DCCC’s Frontline Program, I am not only concerned about my seat, I am concerned about our House majority. With all our districts being redrawn — some blatantly partisanly — we have to keep the pressure on to make sure we get a fair shake going into next year’s races. Remember: Republicans only need 5 wins to take back the House.

There is far too much at stake for Republicans to gain control. The U.N. has just released their 2021 climate report, which has been deemed a “ code red for humanity .”

In order to fight for the important issues of the day, we need to maintain our Democratic majority. Republicans have long ignored the effects of climate change, and if they took control, there is no telling the irreversible damage they could do.
