This is the current state of our world right now, John:
This isn’t a scene from a movie. This isn’t a CGI edit. This is the aftermath of a wildfire that devastated Greenville, California.
This is a wake-up call for all of us, and our elected officials, that time is running out and we need to take action right now.
For the past several years we’ve watched as our world has grappled with the devastating effects of climate change. We’ve rallied to support underrepresented and disenfranchised communities who have borne the brunt of the climate devastation, and all the while our representatives have failed to take the necessary action to fight back to stabilize our climate and prevent even worse outcomes from happening.
It’s clearer now more than ever that we need to reorient our society towards clean, renewable energy and conservation immediately to prevent even more death and destruction in our communities. And implementing the Green New Deal framework is the best way our country can address the impacts of climate change, while creating millions of jobs in the process.
We all need to actively call on our elected officials to immediately enact bold climate solutions like the Green New Deal framework and clear infrastructure guides to combat climate change. Please add your name to help amplify our collective call for immediate climate action.

In the latest UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment report released Monday, scientists asserted that the climate crisis is intensifying, and we have a very small window to prevent the worst case scenario. Billions of people are already at risk from life-threatening heat waves and extreme weather. If we don’t immediately impose a wholesale shift in our economy away from fossil fuels, we will see more climate catastrophes take place across the world — and much sooner than we previously thought.
The 2018 IPCC report sparked immediate national mobilization, eventually leading to President Biden’s historic proposal of the American Jobs and Family Plans. Now, we have an opportunity to take this newest report and its information to inspire bold, necessary changes in our legislation and finally bring our communities the support and reassurance we deserve.
While we’ll work to process this news in our own way, I know that it's my job as an elected official to provide solutions and legislation that truly meets the scale and scope of the crises we face. And in Congress, I will not back down from our fight to vastly transform our economy and our government to prioritize immediate climate action for the health and safety of our futures.
The only way we’ll see progress in our fight for climate action is through enacting bold legislation like Democrats’ proposed $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill and the Green New Deal. We can’t turn back time, John, but we can do everything in our power to prevent even more destruction from happening — and I can’t do this by myself.
The stronger our collective voice, the more amplified our message will be to those with the power to bring the much needed change our communities deserve. That’s why I’m asking for your help in strengthening our movement’s momentum and power in Congress by adding your name in support of our call for immediate climate action.
