Our monthly social hours are a great opportunity to meet new people, learn how to get involved, and catch up with your fellow young Dems! Everyone is welcome.

This month’s social hour will take place on Wednesday, August 18th at 7pm at The Board Room over in Clarendon. There is street parking available nearby and it's just a short walk from the Clarendon metro station.

AYD Campaign Training Workshop

Want to learn how you can help out this election season? Then come join AYD for our campaign training workshop on Tuesday, August 24th at 7pm!

We'll show you the ropes on door knocking, text banking, phone banking, and more! Earlier in the meeting we will also vote on several resolutions that have been brought forth by various AYD caucuses throughout the year.

DPVA Field Organizer Position

The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) is looking for the best organizers in the country to protect the Democratic majority in the House of Delegates and elect Statewide Democrats in 2021. Field Organizers will be responsible for the execution of a robust field plan in their assigned regions of the commonwealth. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis but the application will close on August 10th. For any questions please contact [email protected].

6th Annual Barbara Johns Day

The Democratic Party of Virginia invites you to join us for the 6th Annual Barbara Johns Day panel and reception on August 14th at the Lyon Park Community Center in Arlington. Reserve your spot today!

The Democratic Party of Virginia’s 6th Annual Barbara Johns Panel and Reception celebrates the life and legacy of Barbara Johns and shines a light on the important work still being done by Democrats around the Commonwealth and the nation to ensure the civil rights of all Americans.

The panel will be moderated by Senator Jennifer McCellan and will bring together historians, scholars, and stakeholders to discuss the history of civil rights and the ongoing fight to ensure civil rights for all Virginians. We will also hear reflections from the family of Barbara Johns. The panel is free to attend but you must RSVP ahead of the event.

Following the panel, we will hold a ticketed fundraising reception to support DPVA’s efforts to keep Virginia blue this November. Reserve your ticket today!

AYD Health & Education Caucus August Meeting

The next AYD Health & Education Caucus meeting will be on Wednesday August 25th, at 7:00pm!

Building on the sex education advocacy work from the last meeting, we will be working on a draft resolution that hopefully can be put forth ahead of the fall election cycle.

Please review the resolution and come prepared with ideas on how to collaborate. If you need to be brought up to speed, please see the presentations from prior meetings about Virginia's sex education curriculum. We look forward to seeing you there!

“CC2DCA Multimodal Connector Feedback

Through Sunday, August 15: This project explores the possibility of providing a context-sensitive multimodal connection between Crystal City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), designed to meet the needs of people walking, biking, and using micro mobility devices. Share your thoughts on what aspects of this connection are most important to you online through August 15. Materials are available in English, Spanish and Chinese.

Resurfacing for Complete Streets- N. Lynn Street

Through Tuesday, August 17: Arlington County transportation staff have identified a segment of N. Lynn Street between Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) and Wilson Boulevard for complete streets improvements through the Resurfacing for Complete Streets program. Share your feedback on the concept design now through August 17, 2021.

Community Feedback on S. Four Mile Run Drive Complete Streets Project

Through Wednesday, August 25: The project team recently held a meeting to share the project background and goals and the concept plan. Watch the meeting. The project team wants to hear your feedback on the concept design and what improvements matter most to you. Share you thoughts.
