Friday was the final day of the first special session and the Texas House Democrats were AWOL for almost all of it, making it clear that holding our democracy hostage is more important to them than working for everyday Texans.
Here's a quick preview of what the House Dems accomplished while the Texas Senate was hard at work—

I want to thank Gov. Abbott for calling the legislature back for a second special session [[link removed]], which began Saturday, August 8. The work we will complete is critical to all Texans.
All of the bills on this special session call were passed by the Texas Senate during the regular legislative session this spring, and died in the House when the Democrats decided to walk out and turn their backs on Texans. They were again passed by the Senate during the first special session in July, and AGAIN, died in the House when the Democrats decided to flee to D.C.
With Gov. Abbott promptly calling us back for another special session, I want Texans to know the Texas Senate immediately went to work Saturday to do our important job. I look forward to a productive special session for the people of Texas.
The Texas Senate has already passed 5 of the important bills listed on the call. Make no mistake, the Texas Senate will pass these bills over and over again until the House finally has a quorum.

I had the great honor to address over 500 members of law enforcement at breakfast in Fort Worth this morning. The nearly 80,000 men & women of law enforcement in Texas are the finest in the nation.
I told them Texans have their back because they have our back every day.
