Bad news: the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) just released a new climate report.

The head of the UN called it a “code red for humanity.”

We are well on our way to blowing past the targets of the Paris climate agreement. The planet will warm 1.5C by 2040 no matter what — earlier if we do nothing. The Arctic will likely be ice-free in September at least once before 2040.

In short, climate change is real, humans caused it, many of the consequences are irreversible, and we still have time to prevent the worst.

We’re going to have another heatwave in the Northwest this week, with temperatures close to 100 degrees predicted. Fires are raging in California, Algeria, Russia, and Greece.

Meanwhile, Republicans continue to deny climate change and corporate Democrats continue to enable them. Like my opponent Derek Kilmer, a Chevron Democrat who takes oil money and opposes the Green New Deal.
