John,
Katie has a new right-wing opponent—making six total Republicans who have entered the race with the goal of unseating Katie in the 2022 midterms.
The fight for California’s 45th is going to be one of the most closely watched races this election cycle—both the NRCC and the DCCC have added it to their list of seats most likely to flip. Plus, the NRCC outraised the DCCC by millions earlier this year.
This means Republicans will be pouring millions of dollars into this race to make sure they flip the district red—and unseat Katie.

There’s no way to sugarcoat it, John: Democrats are going to be on the defense this upcoming midterm cycle after barely holding on to our House majority and losing many vulnerable seats last November.
Our ability to hold onto our House majority and continue passing lifesaving legislation will depend on if we can protect vulnerable seats like Katie’s.
Katie’s district in Orange County had been a reliable red district for decades until she won her first election in 2018. She’s going to continue fighting her heart out for working families in our district and across the country, but the results from last year’s election indicate this is still a vulnerable seat.
The GOP knows that their path to securing a House majority includes taking our district back. As they start gearing up for a competitive 2022 race, our campaign needs your support to guarantee we’ll be ready to fight back.
Thanks for your support, John.
