This week, the Summer Olympics came to an end with the closing ceremony in Tokyo. It’s always great to watch these athletes compete at such a high level at the top of their sports, and it was particularly awesome to watch so many talented Olympians from Hawaii competing across the games:

Jordyn Barratt | Skateboarding
Tri Bourne | Beach Volleyball
Micah Christenson | Men’s Volleyball
John John Florence | Surfing
Martin Iosefo | Rugby
Sakura Kokumai | Karate
Carissa Moore | Surfing
Heimana Reynolds | Skateboarding
Erik Shoji | Men’s Volleyball
Kawika Shoji | Men’s Volleyball
Jesse Smith | Water Polo

It was fitting to see Native Hawaiian, Carissa Moore, take home the first-ever Gold Medal in surfing a century after Hawaii’s Duke Kahanamoku -- the godfather of surfing and an Olympic medalist in his own right for swimming -- championed for surfing to become an Olympic sport.

I want to congratulate Carissa and all of the Team USA Olympians from Hawaii on their exceptional performances in the summer games. We’re so proud of all of them.

Mahalo,

Brian
