The U.S. Senate just passed its bipartisan infrastructure bill, which includes hundreds of billions for roads, bridges, rail, water, and broadband. (The House will vote on that bill later this summer.)
Congress is now moving on to the much larger budget plan — some $3.5 trillion in critical investments, including to:
- Strengthen and expand Medicare.
- Provide universal preschool.
- Reduce carbon emissions and transition to clean energy.
- Make community college tuition-free.
- Increase affordable housing.
- Incentivize electric vehicles.
- Create a path to citizenship for qualified immigrants.
- Fund child care for working families.
- Establish a Civilian Climate Corps.
- Make giant corporations and the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share of taxes.
Tell the Senate:
Pass the $3.5 trillion budget resolution immediately, with no poison pill amendments. This legislation will take crucial steps toward making America a more decent and just society, caring for children and seniors, slashing our shameful poverty rates, and addressing severe income and wealth inequality. And it will take serious — if still inadequate — action to confront the climate crisis, which is happening even faster and doing even more damage than feared. We need the boldest action you can deliver, and there is absolutely no time to waste.
Add your name.
Thanks for taking action.
For progress,

P.S. For half a century, Public Citizen has been advancing policies that put the needs of everyday Americans before the greed of billionaires and Big Business. That legacy of progress and that ongoing work could not matter more right now, as our nation transitions to a Joe Biden presidency that will be as progressive as we — you and Public Citizen, together — make it. We’re also busy undoing all the damage Trump did. And, like so many nonprofits and small businesses, we continue to experience financial strain related to the coronavirus pandemic. If you can, please make an emergency donation today to support the critical work we’re doing together or even join our popular Monthly Giving program. Thank you.
