For too long, communities of color have been subjected to targeted policing. Outdated sections of California's penal code has encouraged police bias and misconduct, including profiling, harassment, and violence.

The Safer Streets for All Act (SB 357) will repeal an archaic state law that criminalizes loitering with the intent to commit prostitution. Enforcement of this highly subjective law has led to discriminatory stops and disproportionate arrest rates for women of color and trans people – allowing police to target people based on their race, appearance, gender or gender expression, how they speak, and where they stand.

Tell your Assemblymember it's time to repeal laws that empower police to harass and discriminate against Black, Brown, and trans people, particularly women of color. All Californians deserve to exist in public spaces safely and peacefully, without the fear of violent arrest.
