Dear John,

#GirlsToo means feeling safe. #GirlsToo means being believed. #GirlsToo means joining together. And importantly, #GirlsToo means taking action to change the status quo. 

For Emily, a 17 year-old who lives in Wisconsin, #GirlsToo means solidarity. “This movement is important because it shows me I’m not alone. That people out there care about what’s happening to so many girls today. They care about me.”

On behalf of girls like Emily, thank YOU: the 900+ supporters who sent 2,820 messages last week to commemorate the one-year anniversary of #GirlsToo by telling Congress to pass the Gender Equity in Education Act. Together, we are moving closer to our vision: a world where safe, respected, and valued is not radical but a reality.
