We know that Andrew Cuomo will only resign once his impeachment is imminent.
The release of Attorney General James’s independent review last week made it abundantly clear that Andrew Cuomo is a serial harasser who has broken state and federal laws.
He shouldn't be in office any longer, so we must speak up and urge the State Assembly to take action.
Taking action is simple:
Has your representative shown support for impeachment? Publicly thank them and urge others to follow their leadership. If your representative hasn’t publicly supported impeachment, you can tag them in a Tweet to urge them to show support. Not sure about your representative? Use this helpful guide from Émilia Decaudin.
If you don’t know where or how to start with tweeting, feel free to “quote tweet” this with your own message. Example messages below.
- Representative has supported impeachment: Thank you [INSERT REP’S HANDLE] for supporting impeachment of Gov Cuomo. I hope other leaders follow their leadership. If your NY representative hasn't shown support, contact them now! You can look up who represents you here: https://myreps.datamade.us/
- Representative hasn’t supported impeachment: I support actions to call for Gov Cuomo’s impeachment. I urge [INSERT REP’S HANDLE] to take action!
There are 150 members of our New York State assembly. We need 76 members to vote to impeach Cuomo. If we succeed, Democratic Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul will become acting Governor and strip Cuomo of his decision making abilities before he would then stand trial.
Every day that Cuomo refuses to leave office is another in which he disrespects and further harms the women he abused. And makes it impossible for our state government to focus on the urgent work on behalf of New Yorkers like fixing the rent relief program and fighting the surge in Covid-19 cases.
It’s time for Andrew Cuomo to go.
Thank you for everything you do,
Brad
