John,

Throughout his career, and in this race for governor, Jim has focused on the issues that matter to Mississippi families -- expanding access to healthcare, improving our education system, and combating domestic violence. Meanwhile, our opponents have been making a campaign issue out of restricting opportunities for women.

In the past week, not one but two Republican candidates for Mississippi governor publicly announced that they follow the “Billy Graham rule,” which means that they refuse to be alone with a woman they are not married to, even in a professional context. We need a governor who will fight for all Mississippians, and we need your support to win this race.

Such a policy is unacceptable from our public servants, and we wanted to make sure you saw Jim’s statement on the issue:

"First, in 2019, to even be having this conversation is ridiculous. That said, strong women, beginning with my mom, have played an important role in my life, in my Attorney General's Office and in my campaign for Governor. If I couldn't meet with women alone to discuss issues important to them and to Mississippi, I wouldn't be able to do my job. As Governor, women will play an important role in my administration. I will move to pass an equal pay law for women; continue to fight domestic violence against women; and provide economic opportunities in business and industry for women. And I will do all these things while meeting with women -- alone if necessary -- to hear their voices and champion their causes."

The contrast here couldn’t be more clear -- as governor, Jim will be a champion for women in the workforce and will build an executive office that represents all Mississippians.

Help us elect a candidate who will support Mississippi women and families, and ensure that they have a seat at the table. This November, let’s elect Jim Hood.
