It’s clear why we need to pass the For the People Act. This year alone, at least 17 states have passed laws restricting the right to vote.
Despite President Biden’s numerous statements on the importance of the For the People Act and voting rights generally, he still has not used the full power of his office--including demanding an end to the filibuster--to protect voter’s rights.
That’s why we need you to join us on Thursday, August 12 at 10:30 am ET, when we will deliver our petition asking President Biden to do whatever it takes to get the For the People Act passed into law.
Hundreds of thousands of voters have signed on and we need your help to get President Biden’s attention. After the delivery, we will host a press conference with speakers including Stephen Spaulding from Common Cause, Sean Eldridge from Stand Up America, Cliff Albright from Black Voters Matter, and Eli Zupnick from Fix Our Senate.
As long as Mitch McConnel can take advantage of this anti-democracy parliamentary loophole -- he has a stranglehold on Congress’ agenda. And that means he can block progress on voting rights altogether.
Our fight for the For the People Act is far from over. But if we want to move this all-important bill forward -- we must be able to push through Mitch McConnell’s blockade and we must tell President Biden that we need him to do whatever it takes.
