John,
We are once again seeing an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases across the country. Here in Washington State, hospital occupations are at the highest rates seen this year as the contagious Delta variant continues to spread.
We are not out of the woods yet, and we must continue to take precautions to keep ourselves, our family, and our community safe. Here are a few ways to protect yourself against COVID-19:
- The best protection we have against this virus is the COVID-19 vaccine. Washington State Department of Health officials reported that 94% of recent cases, deaths, and hospitalizations of those 12 years of age and older are people who are not fully vaccinated. If you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccine, now is the time to do so. Find a vaccination site and make an appointment now.
- If you're experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, please get tested. Find a testing site near you.
- Please follow the CDC's guidelines and wear your mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission, even if you're fully vaccinated.
Kim is continuing to work in Congress to keep our communities safe and provide relief to families and small businesses. As schools prepare to re-open, she's fighting to make frequent, at-home testing widely available to keep our children and educators safe.
A return to normalcy will take all of us working together, so please make sure you're doing your part to stop the spread of this disease.
Thank you,
Team Schrier
