John,
The Dixie Fire is now being called the second-worst wildfire in California history.
If you're like me, you've been stunned and saddened by the reports coming out of Northern California. Entire communities have been ravaged, and tens of thousands of structures are at risk of being destroyed. My thoughts are with our first responders, our firefighters, and the thousands of families who have been forced to evacuate their homes.
Unfortunately, the climate crisis has only made wildfires like these the new normal in our state, and they have grown stronger and more frequent.
This should concern everyone, especially after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) just issued a report labeling this climate crisis a "code red for humanity." We need immediate action to combat climate change. But right now, we need to step up as a community to respond to this emergency in front of us:
If you're able, please make a contribution to the Dixie Fire Relief Fund. Your donation will support immediate and long-term wildfire recovery efforts.
Thanks, and stay safe.
Mike
