Here is an incredible statistic: there were 250,000 new registered voters under Colorado’s Automatic Voter Registration system!
The Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) law was part of the Democracy Package that Jena worked with the Colorado Legislature to pass in 2019. Over 250,000 Coloradans have been registered through the system since it was implemented in May of 2020.
Under the AVR system, eligible voters who provide identification that shows citizenship are automatically registered to vote when they apply for or renew their driver’s license. Colorado had the second-highest turnout in the nation in 2020, and AVR was instrumental in making it happen!

This system makes voter registration more convenient, especially for working people or those who live in rural areas. Even when states across the country are attacking voting rights, Jena has increased access to the polls and made it easier for Coloradans from every neighborhood and all political affiliations to have their voices heard.
