Friend,
A pathway to citizenship means hope.
For mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. For essential workers, farm workers, students, and community members. For families seeking better lives for their children. For migrants fleeing violence in their home countries. For immigrants who pay taxes every year to a country that refuses to recognize them as their own. For activists who demand our government see Dreamers as human beings instead of bargaining chips. For those just trying to survive.
A pathway to citizenship means freedom.
Senate Democrats have proposed a pathway to citizenship in the next budget reconciliation package, which can bypass a GOP filibuster and pass with a simple majority vote. We have the numbers in the Senate, and we expect passage in the House as well, but we are not out of the woods yet.
A hateful federal court ruling has partially ended the DACA program, throwing the lives of nearly 50,000 new applicants in an alarming state of limbo. It’s clear that permanent protections are urgent and long overdue.
Urge your members of Congress to ensure that a pathway to citizenship stays in the upcoming budget reconciliation package.
With Congress expected to go into recess later this month, we are keeping the pressure on our legislators. They must pass a budget resolution that includes a pathway to citizenship and ensure immigration reform stays in the reconciliation package for voting when they reconvene.
This is the best chance Democrats in Congress have had in years to finally deliver hope and freedom to Dreamers, DACA recipients, and TPS holders — and this time, Republicans won’t be able to block it. This can be a monumental win, but one we’ll only be able to accomplish with your help. Our members of Congress need to hear from you directly.
We are fighting for a future where immigrants are empowered to live their lives with joy and pride. No more shadows. No more fear. We are writing the next chapter of our history to celebrate the immigrant families and communities who make up the vibrant cultural fabric of this country. It all starts with your letter to Congress.
Thank you,
